A Season of Change: Following Curiosity in Art and Life
People evolve and change, it’s inevitable. In fact, I’ve come to believe that if we don’t change, something gets lost. Growth keeps us alive. It keeps our work meaningful.
Lately, I’ve been feeling that pull of personal change deep within me. It’s not the loud kind that demands attention, but a quiet nudge, a whisper that says, “It’s time.” Every time I go through a big life shift, whether it’s a move, a change in pace, or a shift in focus, I notice it reflected in my art. My creative process is like a mirror it reflects what’s happening in my inner world.
As I’ve explored new paths, new surroundings, and followed those threads of curiosity, I’ve found myself heading in unexpected directions. And honestly, that’s where the magic happens. Change isn’t something to resist it’s something to embrace. Staying still, not evolving, is what makes things go stale. Creativity thrives on movement.
An Organic Shift Back to the Easel
This new direction in my art feels incredibly organic not forced or planned, but a natural unfolding. I’ve felt a real calling back to the easel lately, almost like a physical urge to paint. To get my hands dirty, to feel the paint move under the brush, to respond to color and texture in real time.
Rather than focusing on creating something highly representational, I’ve been craving spontaneity a freedom to respond more instinctively to color and form. I wanted to bring back a sense of play. To create for the joy of creating, not for perfection.
That sense of play led me to start experimenting with collage and mixed media. There’s something so exciting about introducing a little bit of random chance into the process tearing paper, layering textures, not knowing exactly how things will come together. It pushes me out of my comfort zone and challenges me to respond in the moment. It’s messy, imperfect, and full of surprises… and I love it.
Going Deeper
Lately, I’ve also felt a yearning to go deeper with my work. I don’t just want to paint something pretty I want to tell a story. To explore what it means to be human, in all our layers of joy, struggle, curiosity, and grace.
My hope is that my art invites people to pause and feel something. Maybe it sparks a memory, a dream, or a moment of reflection. Maybe it reminds you that beauty doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to be honest.
This new chapter feels like an unfolding conversation between my heart, my hands, and the canvas. It’s about trusting the process, following curiosity, and letting change lead the way.
Because at the end of the day, art — like life — is meant to evolve.
