Everything the Light Touches

I'm wandering around Provence this week, finding all the places the light touches. September was a rough month with more than a few curveballs and I'm looking at this trip, even though it was planned way in advance of all that, as a recalibration of sorts.
I’m challenging myself to take it all in without the pressure to produce anything from it. Letting the inspiration be just that—inspiring.
I don’t know yet how this place will show up in the work, but I do know that I tend to carry the places I’ve been with me. They show up on the canvas sometimes in ways I’m not expecting.
I've learned over the years that I'm the kind of person who needs to process travel before I can turn it into something. I used to travel with a sketchbook and feel the overwhelming pressure to document everything in the moment. To create immediately.
Now, I'm trying a slower approach. Taking in the inspiration as it comes and letting it guide the work without me forcing it.
Noticing for now, everything else will come.
Back soon with whatever I end up finding,
-Shelby
